PREMIERE: Animalism's primal take on city pop melancholia with 'Growing Lights'

The pastel, subdued colors on its artwork is very much an indication of what you're going into with Animalism, a psychedelic-pop unit from Indonesia.

It's take on electronic psychedelia is very much framed by their urban surroundings, but turns away from the disarray of a bustling environment while remaining fixated at its constant stream. On the surface, it's pop music distilled its core — a simple hook and disarming melodies is all it takes for 'Growing Lights' to get stuck in your head.

Its guitars are treated to airy and free-flowing production, but the sanitization of its verse-chorus form makes it a breezy listen worth repeated plays in a car ride at sunset.

The single has also gotten the remix treatment, with two producers from Jakarta expanding the meditative qualities of the original song's production.
