Ren Meguro is heading to the battlefield — but this time, not as a J-pop heartthrob.
The Snow Man member has officially joined the cast of FX’s hit drama Shōgun for its highly anticipated second season. The breakout series, which captivated global audiences last year with its epic storytelling, is set to return with new faces, deeper political drama, and more intrigue in feudal Japan. Meguro will take on the role of a new character, Kazutada.
Production for season 2 begins January 2026 in Vancouver.
This marks Meguro’s biggest global acting role yet. Already a rising star in Japan’s entertainment world — thanks to his work in dramas like Trillion Game and his chart-topping career with Snow Man.

Shōgun, based on James Clavell’s novel, made headlines earlier this year for its authentic Japanese-language production, cinematic visuals, and award-winning performances. Season 1 was headlined by Hiroyuki Sanada and saw major success across Disney+ platforms worldwide.
Details on Meguro’s character are under wraps, but his addition hints at a narrative expansion. Meguro joins returning cast members including Sanada and Cosmo Jarvis, with further announcements expected soon.
For now, J-pop fans can look forward to seeing one of their own in a high-stakes samurai saga, with Shōgun poised to become an even bigger cultural juggernaut in its next chapter.
