As we've previously noted, Ming Arcade was a crucial part of the Singapore rock music scene during the 70s right through the 80s, hosting popular bands such as The Quests and Tokyo Square. And now almost 30 years later, the prominent Orchard Road building looks to once again become a hotbed for local musicians.

As you may have heard, renowned drummer Junaidi Kusnong, best known for his powerful and multi-textural playing style within various prominent metal, math and jazz bands (Amateur Takes Control, T-Rex, Temple of Horses, etc), has just opened a brand new jamming space within the Cuscaden Road mall together with his wife Sherri Ashlee!

Named Plugged Studios, the fresh venue hopes to provide an affordable and accessible rehearsal space for musicians. Encouragingly, the studio is run by local musicians and music lovers, so owners Junaidi and Sherri and uniquely positioned to understand their customers' needs.

Looking to help support local musicians and play a part in the flourishing scene here, The husband and wife duo aims for Plugged to contribute to the growth and maturity of the scene in a meaningful and tangible way.

As Junaidi explains, “Musicians in Singapore, unlike bigger countries, don’t have the luxury of jamming out in their garages or set up their own home studios. Most musicians need a space to rehearse and write their music and that’s where we come in. Plugged hopes to not only be a rehearsal space but also a place to inspire and support fellow musicians to create and thrive in the local music scene."

Plugged Studios is now open and is located at 21 Cuscaden Road #06-05/06, Ming Arcade Singapore 249720. Fro enquiries please contact them via telephone at +65 91804371/94561739 or via email at hello@plugged.sg.

As part of their "Two off Two" soft launch promo, any jamming session booked for 2 hours or more that ends before 2200hrs (10pm) will receive $2 off their total bill.
