The sweeping soundtrack for The Violinist has arrived.
Released by Milan Records on 25 September, The Violinist (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) features music by Singaporean composer and Golden Horse winner Ricky Ho and Spanish composer Isabel Latorre. The pair co-wrote the original score for the Annecy-winning animated film, bringing together Eastern and Western musical traditions across 29 tracks.
Featuring intimate violin melodies and sweeping orchestral themes, the score accompanies a story centred on friendship, memory, resilience, and hope. Among its tracks are 'The Pursuit', 'First Duet', 'Sunset Sonata', 'Fall of Singapore', 'A New Sunrise', and 'Strings of a Distant Heart'.
The Violinist spans Singapore and Malaya from the early 20th century through the Japanese Occupation. The film follows two childhood friends brought together by music as war, displacement, and the passage of time reshape their lives.
Produced by Robot Playground Media, The Violinist is an official co-production with Spain's TV ON Producciones and Italy's Altri Occhi, with worldwide sales handled by France tv distribution.
