RIIZE are turning down the volume and letting their voices take the lead.
Released on 26 October via SM Entertainment and RCA Records, the group’s new single ‘Insomnia’ marks their first venture into acoustic pop. Gentle guitar melodies frame the six members’ distinct vocals, bringing a wistful, dreamlike quality to a song about the memories and longing that become harder to shake late at night.
The track brings together Grammy-winning production team The Stereotypes, known for their work on Bruno Mars’ ‘That’s What I Like’ and ‘Finesse’, and songwriter-producer August Rigo, who previously worked with RIIZE on ‘9 Days’. Korean lyricist Eana Kim penned the lyrics.
Its accompanying music video moves between dreams, reality, and imagination, exploring loss and the feelings left behind by something once cherished. Atmospheric, cinematic visuals echo the song’s melancholy, with the members portraying the heightened emotions of a sleepless night.
Ahead of the release, RIIZE introduced the INSOMNIA SHEEP GAME on their official website. The pixel-art game drew approximately 70,000 players within its first hour.
The group are also marking the single’s arrival with RIIZE into INSOMNIA, a four-day fan event at SPACE S50 in Seoul’s Seongsu district from 26 to 29 October. Opening-day performances and talk sessions are followed by exhibitions and interactive experiences inspired by the track.
‘Insomnia’ follows RIIZE’s second mini-album, II, released in June, which became their fourth million-selling album. After the high-energy ‘Do your dance’, the new single introduces a gentler dimension of their signature Emotional Pop and serves as a prologue to their second full-length album, planned for spring 2027.
