Sam Smith announces upcoming studio album in 2020 featuring a full-blown pop production

Sam Smith has announced the long-anticipated arrival of a third studio album, following 2017's The Thrill of it All, promised to be a full-blown pop production, marking a shift away from an earlier "acoustic-y, soulful version of pop music". It it set to drop some time in 2020.

In an interview with Zach Sang Show, Sam Smith expresses an overt excitement in the upcoming album and reveals, "I feel like I have recently shown a side of me which I normally keep to myself or for my family and friends. It’s almost given me permission to kinda do what I’ve always dreamed of doing but I was always scared to do, which is pop music. It’s almost given me permission to kinda do what I’ve always dreamed of doing but I was always scared to do, which is pop music."

Smith promises that some things won't change. "I have so much to speak about in my music still. My music will always be honest. But just being able to dance is just amazing." 

This news follows recent releases 'Get Happy' featuring Renée Zellweger, ‘How Do You Sleep?’ and ‘Dancing With A Stranger’ featuring Normani.
