The inaugural Filipino Music Awards 2025, held on 21 October at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, marked a historic moment for OPM with a night full of firsts, fanfare, and fiery performances. SB19 were undeniable scene-stealers, dominating the evening with six major wins including Artist of the Year, Pop Song of the Year for ‘Dungka!’, Tour of the Year, Concert of the Year, and two fan-voted trophies: People’s Choice Artist and People’s Choice Song. Fellow crowd-favourite Cup of Joe had their own moment in the spotlight, winning Song of the Year with ‘Multo’ and Album of the Year for Silakbo.

The FMAs also championed genre diversity, awarding standout acts across alternative, rock, hip-hop, R&B, and folk. Zild picked up Alternative Song of the Year for ‘I.N.A.S.’, IV of Spades bagged Rock Song of the Year with ‘Aura’, and Morobeats won Hip-Hop Song of the Year for the powerful ‘Gubat na Siyudad’. On the R&B front, Denise Julia scored with ‘Lackin’, while Ben&Ben’s ‘Dear’ won Folk Song of the Year.

Performances were just as memorable. IV of Spades electrified the stage with ‘Aura’, BGYO brought arena-level choreography, and Gloc-9 lit up the arena with ‘Upuan’. BINI fired up the crowd with a slick performance of ‘First Luv’, while Ben&Ben and SB19 united for a powerful rendition of ‘Kapangyarihan’. Ely Buendia also made a wonderful live appearance with a moving performance of ‘Kandarapa’. apl.de.ap turned things global with a fiery take on ‘WIND IT!’, and Cup of Joe delivered a moving sing-along with ‘Multo’.

The night also honoured legends: Pilita Corrales received the Tribute Award, Jose Mari Chan was awarded Lifetime Achievement, and Ang Misyon Orchestra was named Music Foundation of the Year.
