‘Dandelion’ (민들레) is SEVENTEEN member Seungkwan’s first solo release, and he hopes it will give you warmth and the strength to carry on.
Addressing his fans – CARATs – and everyone who had helped, the singer wrote on Weverse a few hours before the song’s release on 26 February midnight (KST): “I hope this song reaches you, so that when spring comes and you see dandelion seeds, if only for a little while, it'll be warm and you'll get the strength to live on.” (이 곡이 조금이라도 닿아서 우리 봄이 오면 민들레 꽃씨를 보고 아주 잠깐이라도 따뜻하게 살아갈 힘을 얻을 수 있으면 좋겠습니다.)
The vocalist shared that ‘Dandelion’ was something that he had written during his break back in April 2023. He added that it had been the first time he had released a song himself, apart from his work on television shows and drama soundtracks.
“Writing songs have always been at the top of my bucket list, but I put it off all the time, making my schedule as an excuse,” he shared on Weverse. “It's always been a bit tough, but this time, I wanted to do 'Dandelion without procrastinating, and thanks to kind people, I was able to do it with courage.”
(곡 작업은 제 버킷리스트에 늘 상단에 자리하는 항목이었지만 스케줄 핑계로 늘 미루고 항상 좀 어려워한 저였는데, 이번 '민들레'만큼은 꼭 미루지 않고 해내고 싶었고 또 좋은 분들 덕분에 용기내서 작업할 수 있었습니다.)
“With this, I realized once again how much people and work goes into finishing a song. The process was a series of lessons and precious experiences. It was unforgettable working on it, and it made me love music even more,” he added.
(이번 작업으로 노래 한 곡을 완성할 때 정말 많은 분들의 수고가 들어간다는 걸 다시 한 번 더 깨닫게 됐고, 그 과정이 너무 소중한 경험과 배움의 연속이라, 잊지 못할 작업기가 됐으며 음악을 더 사랑하게 됐습니다.)
The vocal team member resumed official activities in October last year, appearing on several year-end award shows where he and his members reaped top awards and joining the group's FOLLOW to Asia tour.
‘Dandelion’ is now available to stream on major Korean and global platforms.
