Singaporean singer-songwriter Shelby Wang has taken her music to a bigger stage, emerging as the only Singaporean artist among the Top 10 finalists of Tencent Musician’s 新勢力計劃2026 finals on 23 August.
Held at Legacy Shanghai, the finals saw Wang compete alongside nine other emerging original artists for the title of 2026最佳新勢力音樂人. The programme is organised by Tencent Musician under Tencent Music Entertainment Group and aims to discover and support original artists through platform resources, mentorship, and live performance opportunities.

Wang’s road to Shanghai began across 10 city-level preliminary rounds, after which she was selected as one of 30 artists to progress to the semi-finals. She performed at the Shenzhen semi-final on 24 July, with her original music and live performance securing her a spot in the Top 10.
The Singaporean artist’s latest milestone also arrives alongside new music. On 21 August, Wang released her five-track EP, 不准讓愛壞掉!, a collection centred on the different emotional states of love — from longing and loss to hesitation, connection, and choosing to keep believing in it.
Written and composed entirely by Wang, the EP features the new title track '不准讓愛壞掉', as well as previously released singles '想忘你忘了你', '有的人', '我知道愛我不容易', and '在某個星球'.
At the heart of the record is '不准讓愛壞掉', which Wang describes as a reminder not to let heartbreak diminish our capacity to love.

“This song is about believing in love and the beautiful connections we share with one another,” she shared. “Life will inevitably bring heartbreak, missed chances and goodbyes, but I hope the song reminds us not to let those experiences take away our ability to love.”
She added: “What truly deserves protecting isn’t just a relationship, but the part of us that is still willing to believe and willing to give.”
