Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) to embark on China tour with Chloe Chua & He Ziyu this October

The Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) is heading back to China for the first time in 15 years.

Taking place from 13 to 25 October, the SSO China Tour 2026 will bring the orchestra to seven cities across the country. Led by Quantedge Music Director Hannu Lintu, the tour will also feature violinist Chloe Chua and violinist-violist He Ziyu as soloists. It will mark Lintu's first international tour with the SSO.

Before setting off, the orchestra will give Singapore audiences a taste of its touring repertoire with two pre-tour concerts at the National University of Singapore's University Cultural Centre.

On 8 October, Chloe Chua & Hannu Lintu – Jewel and Titan will see Chua take on Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto. The programme will also feature Singaporean composer Wang Chenwei's The Sisters' Islands and Mahler's Symphony No. 1, conducted by Lintu.

The following evening, 9 October, Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante and Mahler's Titan will bring Chua together with fellow Menuhin Competition alumnus He Ziyu for Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante for violin and viola. Lintu and the SSO will then close the programme with Mahler's Symphony No. 1. Limited tickets remain available for both concerts, with tickets eligible for redemption under the SG Culture Pass.

The China tour will kick off at Shanghai's Jaguar Shanghai Symphony Hall on 13 October, continuing an ongoing partnership between the Singapore and Shanghai Symphonies centred on cultural understanding and artistic collaboration. The Shanghai Symphony made its Singapore debut earlier this year on 23 March.

From there, the SSO will travel to Wuhan Qintai Concert Hall on 15 October and Beijing's National Centre for the Performing Arts on 18 October. Stops at Changsha Concert Hall on 20 October, Guangzhou's Xinghai Concert Hall on 21 October, and Shenzhen Concert Hall on 23 October will follow, before the tour wraps up at Xiamen Banlam Grand Theatre on 25 October.

Chua will perform Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto at the Shanghai, Changsha, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Xiamen dates. Meanwhile, the programme featuring Chua and He in Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante will be presented in Wuhan and Beijing.
