Singaporean DJ MMXJ to drop debut album, 'Into The Wild'

Album Alert!

2015 have been a bountiful year for new Singaporean music releases. And as the year winds down, local music fans (or more specifically local EDM fans) have another reason to rejoice in the form of Singapore DJ and producer MMXJ’s debut album Into The Wild dropping on 27 Nov

Available for iTunes pre-order from 6 Nov, there will be a launch party at Velvet Underground, Zouk Singapore celebrating Into The Wild on the 27th itself. MMXJ, otherwise known as MJ Kuok, will be on the decks debuting tunes off his first full-length effort as well as burning up the dancefloor with his spin on crowd favourite anthems.

However, fans of the Singapore Idol season three finalist don’t have to wait till the end of the month to get a taste of his music. His lead single ‘Kings’, co-written with local singer-songwriter Joel Tan aka Gentle Bones, was released on the 25 Sep and snagged the #1 spot on Spotify Singapore chart. The inspirational song which “served as much-needed hope and encouragement for me (him) through rough water” to MMXJ, was written to “encourage anyone going through self-doubt to learn to trust and love himself”.

And the second single ‘Into The Wild’, once more co-written with Gentle Bones and featuring the vocals of his fellow Singapore Idol finalist Mae Sta, was born out of MMXJ’s love for nature – “I'm a nature-lover at heart… This song stems from my personal connection with nature and the feeling that we're all connected somehow.” The self-taught musician, starting out as a singer-songwriter, decided to dabble into the EDM realm after catching Alesso and Swedish House Mafia at Coachella Arts and Music Festival.
