With Sonic the Hedgehog 2 now showing in Japan, Blue Blur mania seems to have swept the country—including SKY-HI. The Japanese rapper and singer recently released 'Fly Without Wings,' a track inspired by the movie about the blue, speedy hedgehog.

An ode to the action-adventure comedy film. 'Fly Without Wings' speaks about overcoming adversity with unrelenting determination. SKY-HI raps about how believing in one's self can help one achieve their dreams and ultimately, "fly without wings." The track is produced by ☆Taku Takahashi (m-flo, block.fm).
The single also contains samples from ‘UP ON THE GREEN HILL from Sonic the Hedgehog Green Hill Zone - MASADO and MIWASCO Version -,’ a song released by Japanese pop band DREAMS COME TRUE. The band's bassist, Masato Nakamura, scored the original Sonic the Hedgehog games in 1990.
Still drawing inspiration from the video game-turned-movie, the music video for the single was produced with "harnessing the thrill of Sonic’s speed for an incredible audio-visual experience" in mind. It features numerous Sonic references, including the character running at ultra-high speed, crashing through walls, and playing pranks.
'Fly Without Wings' is the third single SKY-HI released this year, including a collaboration with 3RACHA of Stray Kids. Aside from his solo project, he is also known as a member of the J-pop group AAA and of hip hop trio Mother Ninjas, as well as CEO of BMSG (Be My Self Group).
