With USD 1 billion from each company, Epic Games will kickstart their metaverse project that is said to compete with platforms such as The Sandbox and Decentraland. The entire project comes as part of the company's continued effort to create better gaming experiences.

For now, Epic Games' plans for the metaverse have yet to be revealed.
