Spotify acquires music and audio production marketplace SoundBetter

On Thursday, 12 September, it has been announced that Spotify has bought over SoundBetter, a New York-based music and audio production marketplace where singers, producers, and mixing/mastering engineers are able to connect and buy and sell music and audio services. 

In a statement, Co-Founder/CEO of SoundBetter Shachar Gilad said, "SoundBetter offers the most comprehensive global marketplace for music and audio production professionals for hire in the world along with a member community spanning 176 countries and 14,000 cities worldwide."

“We are excited to benefit from Spotify’s global scale, resources, and vision to expand our network and drive more economic opportunities for artists of all levels,” he expressed. 

Beckwith Kloss, VP Product, Creator at Spotify said that SoundBetter and Spotify has the same vision of wanting to give creators the resources they need to thrive.

She continued, "We're excited that creators can generate income through SoundBetter, as well as benefit from its network of top professionals – from instrumentalists to songwriters to producers – as they perfect their tracks."

With the acquision, SoundBetter will henceforth be part of Spotify for Artists. This will allow artists and their teams to find collaborators and producers or generate additional income.
