Spotify has announced the advent of the Spotify Awards, which will be completely based on user-generated data.

The inaugural ceremony will be broadcast live on 5 March 2020 from the international streaming capital, Mexico City, which boasts the most listeners on Spotify globally.

According to a statement from Spotify, the Spotify Awards aim to provide "a true reflection of what fans are listening to".
