STARGLOW are looking back at where it all began with their new single, 'WISHES'. Released on 22 September, the Japanese pop single serves as an answer song to 'PIECES', the track performed by the finalists of BMSG's THE LAST PIECE during the audition programme's final stage.
While 'PIECES' captured the hopes and uncertainty surrounding the finalists at the time, 'WISHES' revisits those feelings one year later. Now together as STARGLOW, the five members reflect on the memories and connections they have made since then while looking towards their next chapter.
The single also sees all five members taking part in its writing and composition. They are credited alongside Bad Milk, PALMR, and SKY-HI — the same creative team behind 'PIECES'. PALMR handled the arrangement, while SKY-HI and PALMR produced the track.
'WISHES' arrives as STARGLOW mark their first pre-debut anniversary. The group will commemorate the occasion with a livestream at 9 PM JST on 22 September, featuring a live vocal performance and what has been teased as a "major announcement" about their next steps. The official lyric video for 'WISHES' will premiere immediately after at 9:30 PM JST.
The release also comes ahead of STARGLOW's debut album, Aurora, due out on 18 November. The 14-track record will bring together songs from across the group's journey so far, including 'Moonchaser', 'Drivin' My Life', and 'WISHES', alongside five additional new tracks.
From the questions that surrounded 'PIECES' to the memories behind 'WISHES', STARGLOW have turned the two songs into bookends for their first chapter together — one capturing where their journey began, and the other answering it a year later.
