Sunset Rollercoaster, ena mori, KIKI, N.Y.P.D. & more nominated for 17th Golden Indie Music Awards

The 17th Golden Indie Music Awards (GIMA) has unveiled its nominees, with Sunset Rollercoaster, ena mori, KIKI, and N.Y.P.D. 南洋派對 among the acts in the running.

The Taiwanese awards, which celebrate original music, received a record 4,242 submissions this year. Its Best Asian Creative Artist category, dedicated to artists from across Asia outside Taiwan, also reached a new high with 105 entries.

Sunset Rollercoaster’s QUIT QUIETLY is nominated for Best Album, Best Band, and Best Alternative Pop Album, while 'Bluebird' is up for Best Alternative Pop Song. The band’s Tseng Kuo Hung also earned a Best Singer-songwriter nomination for QUIT QUIETLY.

Across the categories, the nominees span jazz, electronic music, hip-hop, and works rooted in different languages and local cultural traditions.

Five works are nominated for Best Asian Creative Artist:

• ena mori’s Ore

• KIKI’s Death of a Daisy & Birth of an Oyster

• SHNTI’s Melting PT.

• N.Y.P.D. 南洋派對’s DON’T LIKE 我鍾意

• NAMDO CALLING (Jung Eunhye, CADEJO, and Yechan Kim)’s NAMDO CALLING

This year’s theme, "觸 TRUE", pairs the Taiwanese expression “觸” (chù), which describes the feeling of being emotionally struck by something or finding that it deeply resonates, with the English word “TRUE”. It centres on authentic creative expression and its ability to connect across cultures.

The jury is chaired by Fang Q, bassist of Taiwanese band Cosmos People, who said the record number of submissions reflects the vitality and creative diversity of Taiwan’s music scene.

Beyond the competitive categories, Yuhan Su receives the Jury Award for Over The Moons. The GIMA Impact Award honours Blue Note Taipei and its founder Tsai Bop for their longstanding contributions to Taiwan’s jazz culture and live music scene.
