Here's a look at Swee Lee's first dedicated drum store in Singapore

If you're anything like the average Singaporean drummer, chances are that you're jealous every time you walk into a Swee Lee store.

As you walk towards the humble corner of the store that carries their modest, but tempting, range of drum products, you'd probably pass by a wannabe Jimi Hendrix cranking out tunes on prime, top-of-the-line equipment in a dedicated guitar trial room. You, by comparison, work with just a solitary drum pad.

But now, you have more that with Swee Lee's new dedicated drum store, which just opened at Peninsula Shopping Complex – the mecca of music stores in Singapore.

The store prides itself on accessibility, as it’s a one-stop shop for drummers in Singapore to swing by, hang out, and check out new gear releases. The store will also feature a choice kit of the month, curated by Swee Lee’s drum experts and teachers.

The store carries an impressive array of gear from a variety of brands, across a variety of genres — from Meinl cajons, Gretsch snare drums, Gibraltar hardware, to Vic Firth drumsticks and a variety of auxiliary percussion instruments. The store also carries Tama’s prime creation: the Bubinga Starclassic drum kit.

These are brands that the music gear behemoth has carried over the years — but this store is their first physical space dedicated to all things drums and percussion.

Indeed, they've put the space to great use — drummers are allowed to head in just to try the gear out. A quick email could afford you the luxury of trying out a custom-built kit in the store’s soundproof trial room, with no commitment to purchase the kit. Mix it up if you must – the store could even build you a Ludwig-Tama hybrid kit for you to see how they sound different.

Drummers have been waiting for a playground all these years, and Swee Lee has delivered with a one of a kind store priding itself on accessibility. They don’t need to worry about those annoying guitarists anymore.

Check out the photos below from the store below for a sneak peek at what the store has to offer.

All Tama Bubinga Starclassic kits are subjected to thorough and intensive inspections.

Drums, bass, guitar, and ukulele instructor Oliver conducts a quick lesson with the in-store Natal drum set.
