Adding to her illustrious discography dotted with pensive and reflective tracks, syd hartha unveils her delicate and sweet single ‘ako naman muna’.
The track wraps the empowering message of always prioritising yourself and never losing sight of your needs in a soft and lilting pop tune that evokes a sense of nostalgia and warmth within the listener.

syd shares the inspiration behind the track as she muses, “I wrote ‘ako naman muna’ after my first time experiencing a situationship. As a lover girl at heart, I kept on giving so much of myself to someone who made me believe we wanted the same thing—to truly love each other. It took me a while to realise that wasn’t the case. It broke me, but it also inspired me to make it up to myself, to put myself first again and give the same kind of love I kept giving away back to me instead.”
The track blends gentle 1970s-inspired Filipino pop rhythms with soft percussion, airy winds, and soothing keys, creating a lulling, liberating sound. Though the lyrics explore heartbreak and disillusionment, the music conveys a sense of release and freedom.
“The lyrics are already quite emotional and dramatic, so I didn’t want the song to sound or feel that way,” syd explains. “I wanted the production to sound the exact opposite: light, easy, and most especially, fun to listen to, because there’s joy and freedom in finally waking up, realising your worth, and leaving a situation you don’t deserve to be in.”
With ‘ako naman muna’, syd showcases growth as an artist through her mature songwriting and authentic and powerful writing style — blending her individuality with playful energy, creating music that both inspires and resonates.
