Taylor Swift has announced an original song, ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’, that's set to be featured in the original soundtrack for the upcoming film Toy Story 5. The track was written with longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff and is set to arrive on 5 June, ahead of the film’s worldwide release on 19 June.
‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ marks Taylor’s return to her country roots and was inspired by everyone's favourite cowgirl, Jessie. According to Taylor, she wrote the track after getting an early look at the upcoming film, sharing that the story immediately resonated with her.
Toy Story 5 director Andrew Stanton also praised the song, highlighting Taylor’s connection to Jessie and the way she understood the character’s emotional journey. He described the track as one that feels deeply connected to the world of Toy Story, as though it had always belonged there.
Taylor first teased the announcement with mysterious and playful billboards that were spotted in Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Toronto, Mexico City, and London. Each board featured the letters "TS" in the iconic Toy Story font, alongside a Toy Story-themed countdown on her website, following days of fan speculation surrounding her involvement in the film.
After the countdown ended, she finally revealed the surprise on her social media platforms with the caption:
It’s a Toy Story. You knew it! My new original song 'I Knew It, I Knew You' for Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5 will be yours on June 5th. I’ve always dreamed of getting to write for these characters who I’ve adored since I was a 5-year-old kid watching the first Toy Story movie. I fell instantly in love with Toy Story 5 when I was lucky enough to see it in its early stages, and I wrote this song as soon as I got home from the screening. Sometimes you just know, right?

Toy Story 5 will bring back Woody, Buzz, and Jessie, as the film sees the toys facing a new challenge in the form of children’s growing attachment to electronics. The film will also feature Randy Newman’s returning score.
With both the song and film arriving this June, fans of Taylor Swift and the beloved Toy Story 5 franchise have plenty to look forward to.
