The great ticket wars have begun as BTS' ARMY in Singapore warm up their fast fingers in hopes of catching their favourites live after a gruelling seven-year wait. As one of the most anticipated live concert events of the year, fans are desperate to get their hands on tickets to one of the four nights of the BTS WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG’ IN SINGAPORE.
However, their enemies have also entered the battlefield: scalpers. Modern ticketing culture has seen the rapid rise of scalpers snatching tickets away from die-hard fans, using numerous bots to create fake accounts and bypass ticket purchase limits and queue numbers. The scalpers then upsell the tickets on reselling sites for ludicrous prices, luring fans who are desperate for a chance to catch their favourite act live.
As of today, 3 June, the ARMY membership presale has taken place. In order to buy tickets, fans were required to sign up for an ARMY MEMBERSHIP (GLOBAL) on Weverse to get the exclusive promo code. However, one fan took advantage of this, selling access to their code on Carousell for $20.

That's not all, others have even gone to lengths such as multiplying the original ticket prices up to a whopping 23 times when listing the tickets on the online reselling site StubHub. Originally, VIP tickets were priced at $388 on Ticketmaster, while on StubHub, they shot up to about $8,969, a significant jump from the originally listed prices.

Beyond Carousell and StubHub, one fan even took to X to promote the sale of the tickets she had scalped, with fans in the comments expressing their outrage. The tweet showed screenshots of a Google Sheet populated with rows and rows of available tickets, prices, and seat locations. Some of the tickets were bundled with seats positioned next to each other. ARMYs in the comments did not hold back, with some of them going on to comment things like, "@TicketmasterSG this person is a scalper who ruined so many real fans out of their tickets. Please invalidate their tickets" and "Can you handle this pls? This is unfair for the armys @TicketmasterSG @TicketmasterCS".

Ahead of today's ticket wars, Singapore Police Force (SPF) and Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) warned ARMYs about scams, advising them to only purchase tickets from authorised sellers. CASE president Melvin Yong cautioned fans that resold tickets may even be voided by ticket service providers. He added, "Purchasing tickets from unauthorised sources may therefore expose consumers not only to the risk of scams, but also the possibility of being denied entry to the event."
As excitement for BTS' long-awaited return to Singapore continues to reach fever pitch, fans are being urged to remain vigilant and exercise caution when purchasing tickets. While the battle for seats may be fierce, authorities and consumer groups alike stress that buying only through authorised channels remains the safest way to secure a place at the highly anticipated concerts. With additional presales and general sales still ahead, many ARMYs are hoping perseverance, rather than paying inflated resale prices, will be the key to seeing BTS live once again.
