The Bandwagon to Urbanscapes 2014: Meet the Musicians

ESTIMATED

The countdown to our trip to Urbanscapes continues as we are hard at work. We want to make sure THE BANDWAGON is as every bit of fun and exciting for all of you joining us! Over here at Bandwagon, the very core of our existence is to promote live music. Even though it seemed like a daunting task for us, we're bringing some of Singapore's best musicians onboard to perform.

These musicians have been on our radar for quite a while now and they exemplify what we deem as quality musicians fresh from our Lion City. After putting our emcees to task, it's time for the musicians to get the spotlight.

GET ON THE BANDWAGON

GENTLE BONES

BANDWAGON TV

Fresh off a very successful EP launch that saw him sell out the music venue TAB, Gentle Bones has been riding high on a wave of critical adoration and strong interest from the general public since then with his earnest folk anthems laced with pop hooks and thoughtful lyricism.

You're going to perform on a bus! How do you feel about being a part of this inaugural, first of its kind event?

Bandwagon has been coming up with the coolest things and it's hard to resist being a part of it. This will be my first time at any festival overseas and I'm glad I'm able to share it with other Singaporean friends of mine.

What can we expect from your performance?

It'll be pretty intimate and I really enjoy it that way. It'll also be my first time performing on a moving stage, not many people get to enjoy such set-ups.

What is your one pet peeve/ thing you hate most when on a road trip?

Not much really, I guess I'm not the best morning person.

What is the one thing you cannot travel without?

Earphones.

Name us your favourite song(s) for a road trip.

Pretty much the whole backstreet boys album. Nothing beats singing songs with all your friends (hipster or not).

The inventive electronic duo was recently announced as an act, out of two chosen Singaporean acts, on Laneway Festival's esteemed 2015 line-up. With producer Din's lush, dense soundscapes and vocalist weish's captivating range, .gif are destined for big things as they prepare new material.

You're going to perform on a bus! How do you feel about being a part of this inaugural, first of its kind event?

We've always wanted to play on a moving vehicle!! Well, specifically the back of a lorry, but this will definitely do. It is a fantastic idea. We've also been major fans of Bandwagon from the get-go, so being on a literal bandwagon with Bandwagon is like a dream come true. SO STOKED!

What can we expect from your performance?

We'll definitely be stripping it down, taking it easy. Expect, as always, a laid-back and down-tempo soundtrack to your gazing out at the plantations...

What is your one pet peeve/ thing you hate most when on a road trip?

weish: Inevitably losing stuff.

Din: No Wi-Fi.

What is the one thing you cannot travel without?

Good buddies! And music, of course. With varied playlists for different atmospheres.

Name us your favourite song(s) for a road trip.

weish: "Over You", Cashew Chemists.

Din: Exquisite Corpse EP, Warpaint.

Inch Chua

With tours spanning the US and a recently-published book on her back, Inch Chua has been keeping herself busy but she will be coming along on The Bandwagon, with a set that contains a heady mix of surprising beats and honestly crafted indie-rock melodies.

You're going to perform on a bus! How do you feel about being a part of this inaugural, first of its kind event?

It's very exciting. I've played on a bus before in Austin Texas, during the SXSW week. It's a very intimate setting. I'm so excited and deeply honoured.

What can we expect from your performance?

Stripped-down intimate show with some creative flair and some electronics.

What is your one pet peeve/ thing you hate most when on a road trip?

Cold showers. I can rough out everything. Except cold showers.

What is the one thing you cannot travel without?

My iPhone and my passport.

Name us your favourite song(s) for a road trip.

Blue Swede's "Hooked On a Feeling".

Pleasantry

Having released an EP recently with yet another successful launch show at The Esplanade, Pleasantry has since refined their dream-pop foundation with rich instrumentation and poetic lyricism, resulting in a stronger sound that has seen them become a band confident in their own skin. Performing as a duo onboard, expect breezy and summery tunes from them while traversing the highway.

You're going to perform on a bus! How do you feel about being a part of this inaugural, first of its kind event?

We're really excited! Thank you so much for inviting Pleasantry to be part of this!

What can we expect from your performance?

We're definitely stripping it down to a few acoustic instruments. We have not done that for quite a while, so it's gonna be fun!

What is your one pet peeve/ thing you hate most when on a road trip?

The need to go to the toilet while on the road. It sucks not knowing where the next petrol station is or how long it'll take to reach the next petrol station. It sucks more to know that it's more than a few minutes away.

What is the one thing you cannot travel without?

Passport. Hahaha!

Name us your favourite song(s) for a road trip.

Any old school anthems that everyone in the bus knows and can sing along to like The Ataris, NOFX, Plainsunset, Jimmy Eat World, American Football to keep us pumped while on the road!

Seats are limited on the bus so if you haven't planned your holidays for the end of the year, don't miss out on this! Click here to find out more info about THE BANDWAGON and where to get tickets for the most exclusive tour bus this year.
