Mongolian rock trailblazers The HU are back with a double release, unveiling new tracks 'The Men' and 'Warrior Chant' as they continue to expand the boundaries of their signature HUnnu Rock sound. The two songs arrive alongside an official music video for 'The Men', marking the band’s latest musical chapter following their recent appearance on 'Pray to the Sun' from the Netflix series One Piece.
Led by traditional Mongolian instrumentation, 'The Men' opens with sweeping strings before building into a gritty, groove driven anthem layered with hypnotic vocals and the band’s unmistakable blend of indigenous sounds and heavy guitar work. According to Galaa, the track draws from the Mongolian philosophy of “Man’s Inner Spirit” or “Хийморь”, highlighting themes of inner strength, positivity, and generosity. Through its chant like lyrics, the song aims to guide listeners towards self reflection and a deeper understanding of purpose.
The exhilarating music video captures the power of the track and its underlying message perfectly. The video depicts strength in several ways through boxing, mixed martial arts, and even in wit with chess matches and more. Drawing on the idea of “Man’s Inner Spirit”, it captures the various facets of fiery passion through mix of visuals and anthemic music.
On the other hand, 'Warrior Chant' delivers a harder hitting, rhythm forward sound, driven by metallic textures and the band’s signature use of the horse head fiddle. The track leans into the elements that have defined The HU’s identity, with Galaa noting its instantly recognisable rhythm and the group’s continued effort to evolve and expand the HUnnu Rock genre. The song also features intricate fiddle work inspired by the movement of a horse’s gait, adding a dynamic layer to its powerful composition.
The release follows the band’s recent single 'The Real You', which Temka describes as a representation of their upcoming album The HUn. The track stands out as one of the band’s few songs to prominently incorporate Western musical elements, signalling a broader sonic direction for their future releases.
In addition to their new music, The HU are gearing up for an extensive run of live shows. The band will join Apocalyptica for a North American tour this May and June, with The Rasmus also on the lineup. The tour kicks off on 12 May in Silver Spring, Maryland, before making stops across cities including New Haven, Milwaukee, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Anaheim.
