This is not a drill, The Strokes are back with their single 'Going Shopping' that claims its spot as the first single from their upcoming album Reality Awaits. After a six year break in their discography after their previously released and critically acclaimed album The New Abnormal, the indie rock band strikes once again with this single.

A feel good and upbeat track that blends raw western style acoustic guitar chords, blended with more modern electric guitar riffs and bass heavy drums that weave in seamlessly with the heavily autotuned vocals that create an eccentric and dreamlike sound that's heavily reminiscent of that signature The Strokes sound. The track’s quirky nature also oozes through in the peculiar lyrics that say, "I wanna be a 7-foot zombie, the pay is low, but I gotta do somethin', I'm at the mall and the song is bumpin', there goes my future wife in the little red jumpsuit".

As a perfect first glimpse to the rest of the nine track album, 'Going Shopping' builds anticipation to 26 June, when Reality Awaits finally hits the charts and breaks the six year hiatus that the band has been on. Recorded in Costa Rica with producer Rick Rubin, Reality Awaits is beyond just another album under The Strokes' belt but more of a musical homecoming.

With a stacked list of performances at music festivals to come, including their appearance at Coachella next weekend, in headlining Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, Japan’s Summer Sonic 2026 and more, this new era of The Strokes is set to be out-of-this-world.
