Thee Marloes are opening up about ambition, uncertainty, and taking the leap into the unknown on their newest single, ‘6 Years’.

Released ahead of their upcoming sophomore album Di Hotel Malibu, the new track sees the Surabaya-based neo-soul trio lean into a more personal side of their songwriting. Fronted by vocalist Natassya Sianturi, the song explores the emotional tug-of-war between holding onto stability and pursuing music wholeheartedly.

Built around warm grooves and a slick two-step rhythm, ‘6 Years’ combines Thee Marloes’ signature retro soul palette with touches inspired by Timmy Thomas and Timbaland, courtesy of producer Sinatrya Dharaka. The result is an irresistibly smooth track that carries both vulnerability and optimism in equal measure.

Lyrically, the single dives into the anxieties that come with leaving behind a conventional path. Natassya paints a vivid picture of burnout and doubt with lines like, “Tuesday is just another Monday, so tired of just wishing for Sunday,” before confronting the realities of choosing passion over financial security.

“My Momma says I must be crazy to give up all the Rupiah and chase my dreams,” she sings, capturing a sentiment that will likely resonate with anyone who has ever questioned whether to follow their heart or play it safe.

The single arrives less than a month before the release of Di Hotel Malibu, which is slated to drop on 22 May. ‘6 Years’ marks the fourth preview of the forthcoming record and continues to showcase the band’s ability to blend timeless soul textures with deeply relatable storytelling.
