TikTok now has their own music service.
With already immense success in the world of music, the social platform has decided to officially launch their own music marketing and distribution platform, SoundOn, this week. Described as "an all-in-one platform for music marketing and distribution”, the new service is said to help empower and spotlight new and undiscovered artists.

Through tSoundOn, artists are able to upload their music directly to TikTok and various streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, and more.
"In short, we’re making it easier for [independent artists] to get their music on TikTok, and we’re going to work with them to much better understand how to reach their audiences on TikTok. Through SoundOn, we’re going to organise the ecosystem of unsigned artists in a way that doesn’t exist today and has never existed before," said TikTok Global Head of Music Ole Obermann in a statement to Music Business Worldwide.
Why TikTok could make you the next viral sensation
The distribution can be used free of charge, with TikTok waiving the transaction fees. According to the service, creators will be entitled to 100% of royalties to creators for the first year and 90% after that, while also retaining all rights to their music.
In addition, artists will have access to an array of promotional tools and resources to further promote their music across TikTok. So far, SoundOn is currently like in the US, the UK, Brazil and Indonesia.
"New artists and musical creators are a vibrant community within TikTok, and SoundOn is designed to support them as they take the first steps in their career. Our SoundOn teams will guide creators on their journey to the big stage and bring the expertise and power of TikTok to life for the artist. “We’re incredibly excited about how this will surface and propel new talent and how SoundOn will contribute to an increasingly diverse and growing global music industry," said Obermann.
