As Tilly Birds flap their wings embarking on their I’ll Remember To Forget You: Through Layered Walls tour, they began the whirlwind journey by transforming Nokal Manila, a nightclub nestled in Makati City, into an intimate gig performing an acoustic set of some of their greatest hits and newest bangers from their most recent record I’ll Remember To Forget You. The venue was crowded with 100 fans packed at noon, seeming almost uncharacteristic for a nightclub glowing in neon lights.
Stepping into the basement nightclub, fans were greeted with a postcard making table where they were welcome to jot down small notes and decorating their small momentos with custom I’ll Remember To Forget You: Through Layered Walls tour stamps and markers. After that small welcome surprise, the show really took off as the rock trailblazers performed stripped back versions of seven of their tracks.
They opened the show with the title track of their latest album 'I’ll Remember To Forget You' being a refreshing rendition of the track. They also performed 'Retro-39', 'Never A Waste of Time' and 'Our Happy Place' from the same album. They also presented a first ever acoustic of 'Heaven', their collaborative track with Filipino indie folk-pop outfit Ben&Ben. The vibes were lighthearted and cheery as the trio riffed with the crowd, cracking jokes and keeping the chill atmosphere going.
Before emerging from the dark and dimly lit nightclub, fans got the chance to have posters and their postcards signed by the band as they treasured the memory of being part of this quiet and personal experience watching their favourites perform some of their most beloved tracks.
