Tokyo-based indie rock trio LIGHTERS are back again with their single 'Lost in Her Flowers' that tells a story of a heartfelt memory experienced by songwriter, guitarist & vocalist Rumi Nagasawa.
The track opens with the soft strum of a guitar before erupting to present a blistering guitar line that is backed up by Rumi's delicate and airy vocal style, bringing a sense of softness to the rock track. Bassist Naoya Shimizu brings a sense of depth to the track with his addictive bass solo, together with the impactful and heart-thumping drum beat by drummer Juon Tahara, bringing the moving story of the track to life.
The track tells a story from a moment in Rumi's youth as she details the experience, explaining, "This song is about my junior high school teacher who taught me the joy of playing an instrument. At the time, I was almost crazily drawn to her musical expression.
She also adds, "Before I knew it, what grew between us wasn’t just a student-teacher relationship, but a bond built on mutual trust, respect, and affection as human beings. I don’t think anyone else could have truly understood it. I never intended to explain it to anyone. So instead, I poured those feelings into this song with love for her" — revealing the truly wholesome story that hides under the brutality of the impactful musicality featured on the track.
'Lost in Her Flowers' unlocks a warmer lyrical direction for LIGHTERS, giving listeners a more personal and warm listening experience.
