Travis Japan are back with the sugar rush ride of our dreams.
The J-pop boy group have returned with a new single titled 'Candy Kiss'. Channeling the likes of Michael Jackson, Gloria Estefan, and New Kids on the Block, Travis Japan go back to the 80s with the playful bubblegum-esque track as they talk about the bliss of young love.
Ahead of the release of their new single, we caught up with Travis Japan for a quick chat about 'Candy Kiss' and the creative process behind it.
'Candy Kiss' showcases a sweet and vibrant concept. How did you approach the choreography, styling and visual aspects of the song to bring out its playful nature?
Machu: The choreography for 'Candy Kiss' is catchy, and there is this synthesized trumpet part that's really cool making it overall very playful. It's easy to remember and dance the choreography, so I hope our fans can join in at our shows!
As Travis Japan continues to expand its fanbase globally, do you have any specific goals or aspirations for connecting with your international fans? How do you hope 'Candy Kiss' would help you in doing so?
Umi: As Machu said, we have a catchy trumpet-like part. If you have a social media account, please take a video and upload it with the hashtag #CandyKissChallenge, #TravisJapan, or #TJ. Please make lots of videos we can see!
Can you share any behind-the-scenes anecdotes or memorable moments from the making of 'Candy Kiss'?
Noel: Actually, 'Candy Kiss' was going to be our second single. There was this whole bigger story that would lead into Moving Pieces - which was going to be our third single, so they just kind of swapped. On the other hand, our 1st single, 'JUST DANCE!' choreographer Nicky Anderson choreographed for us again. We love him, and we appreciate him working with us again. His choreography and our vibes were really high. It was amazing, exciting, and we are happy to at last share 'Candy Kiss' with you!
