Ujikaji presents Raymond MacDonald, Shoeb Ahmad Duo and more at Artistry

In addition to their fantastic Singapore Night Festival schedule outside The Substation this weekend and the next, the busy folks at Ujikaji will also be organizing a wonderful Sunday evening showcase somewhere in between. Featuring standout experimental musicians from Scotland, Australia and Singapore, this gig at Artistry promises to be boundary-pushing treat.

Headlined by renowned Scottish saxophonist and composer Raymond MacDonald, the founding member of the Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra will be embarking upon an improvisational performance that should be musically challenging, but also grounded by his love for jazz and pop composition.

Canberra's Shoeb Ahmad will also be featured as part of the Shoeb Ahmad Duo. The leader of post-punk noise-rock band Agency (read our track-by-track guide to their latest EP here) is in town to play a show at The Music Parlour alongside music and arts collective Dunce, and we're glad that he also made time for this left-field showcase. Expect a compelling performance rooted in his idiosyncratic approach to acoustic and electronic music.

And last but not least, this outstanding bill will also be complemented by a trifecta of avant-grade Singaporean musicians, namely multi-disciplinary mad scientist Bani Haykal (formerly of B-Quartet and The Observatory), guzheng experimentalist iNat and the musical maestro of all things mechatronic and computational jprecursor.

This Ujikaji event takes place on Sunday, 21 August, 5pm, at Artistry. Click here for more information and ticketing details.
