Music lovers in the Philippines are in for a rare treat as the Vienna Boys’ Choir returns to the country for a pair of special performances this April.
Organized by Ovation Productions in cooperation with the Cultural Center of the Philippines, the globally renowned choir will perform on 26 April and 27 April at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Newport World Resorts, Manila. The performances were arranged through the Austrian Embassy in Manila.
Founded in Vienna, Austria, the Vienna Boys’ Choir is widely regarded as one of the most celebrated boys’ choirs in the world. Known for their angelic soprano and alto voices, the ensemble has captivated audiences for generations with a repertoire that spans classical masterpieces, folk songs, and contemporary arrangements.

The choir’s international touring tradition dates back nearly a century. Their first tour took place in 1926 across Germany and Switzerland — a milestone that laid the foundation for a legacy of global performances. Today, the Vienna Boys’ Choir continues to perform hundreds of concerts annually for audiences around the world.
Currently, the organization is made up of 97 active choristers divided into four touring ensembles: the Brucknerchor, Haydnchor, Mozartchor, and Schubertchor. Together, these groups stage up to 300 concerts a year and have performed in more than 100 countries across over 1,000 tours.
The upcoming Manila concerts will be led by choirmaster Manolo Cagnin, who has toured internationally with the choir since 2008. Beyond concert performances, Cagnin also prepares the boys for Sunday services at the Vienna Chapel Imperial and collaborations with renowned orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

The choir first visited the Philippines in 1967 and last performed in the country in 2016. Their return this year marks another opportunity for local audiences to experience one of the world’s most historic choral ensembles live on stage.
