Step into a new era of VVINK as the release of their debut full-length album approaches. To mark the start of this new chapter, the quintet has released the pre-release single 'Kailan Ka Aamin'.
Written by acclaimed Filipino songwriter Nica del Rosario and produced by Julius James “Bojam” De Belen, VVINK creates a world of relatable songwriting and addictive hooks, taking listeners on a playful exploration of the nervousness that builds when having to bare your soul and confess your affection for someone. The youthful charm of the track is inspired by Thai duo MilkLove, known for their charmingly playful dynamic with fans.
It captures the desperation to say the three words, "I Love You". While it seems easy enough, sometimes the words don't escape your lips. Slowly the other persona catches on, as they reciprocate your feelings they grow impatient waiting for you to just express your feelings for them. Rooted in the Filipino "yearner" experience, the song reflects young love through glances, teasing, unsent notes and growing courage.
Nica del Rosario, the song’s composer, explains more on the inspiration behind the song as he states, "'Kailan Ka Aamin' was inspired by MilkLove, my favorite Thai GL pair who have starred together in various GL series such as 23.5 and Whale Store XOXO. Their Pinoy fans have playfully equated the question, “kailan ka aamin?” with their dynamic after one interview when they were asked what they would do if they liked someone. Milk said that she doesn’t have the nerve to confess, while Love said she won’t confess either and will just wait for the person to make a move. These remarks led their fans to jokingly say that they’re playing a game of “tagu-taguan ng feelings (hiding feelings in English)."
Capturing the innocence of the story the track tells, 'Kailan Ka Aamin' plays into that theme with its rejuvenating 80s pop touch, giving it a retro feel. The track exudes cheekiness and warmth as it's pieced together through the lush production and vivid vocal delivery by VVINK.
“Working with Sir Jumbo De Belen and Ms. Nica del Rosario was such a great experience for us,” shares VVINK. “When we first heard the demo, the emotion was already very strong. They really guided us through the meaning of the lyrics, so we understood the story before recording. The demo felt personal, but the final version feels complete. It still has the same heart, but now it sounds more VVINK.”
VVINK was also heavily involved in the production process, adding in their own personal touch into the track by contributing several adlibs and interpretive nuances and infuse the essence of VVINK into the track, ultimately bringing it to life. Beyond the production, they also actively contributed to concepts, styling and studio vocal arrangements. In the accompanying music video, VVINK radiate a sense of gentle shyness, aligning with the overarching theme of the track. Directed by Nolan Bernardino with Dondi Narciso, the girls dance along to the track as they nail each move with soft precision.
Bernardino elaborates more on the idea behind the video's concept as he shares, "The music video is as simple as it gets. Here we highlight a different side of the girls. This video is all about beauty: the beautiful vocals and performance, with a very pleasant but dynamic choreography. It is a performance that you just want to watch over and over again.”

The process is fun and collaborative, letting everyone contribute ideas while staying aligned and inspired.”
