The prolific Mediocre Haircut Crew boys just dropped their video for 'Lose Your Love', one of the standout tracks from 2015's The MHC EP - and its definitely an early contender for music video of the year!
The whole thing is a gloriously nostalgic throwback to the grainy, tape-recorded days of the early 90s, and we must applaud their visual directors (Imran and Zhong Hao) for nailing the aesthetic so impressively. From the opening shot, made up of an IBM computer monitor and a VHS tape being popped into into a VCR, right to the home-video footage of MHC and FAUXE performing at Kuala Lumpur's RTB Festival 2016, we guarantee you'll be sucked in by the retro feels (if you're old enough to remember that it is).
The onstage performance is cleverly inter-spliced with memorable (and lyrically-relevant) clips from shows like Aladdin, Pokemon, Degrassi: The Next Generation (yup, its the iconic one of Drake/Jimmy getting shot) alongside instantly recognizable 90s-era ads for brands like Listerine, Thai Airways and Dior, so you should definitely keep your eyes peeled for those. And best of all, the music video also provides viewers with the lyrics for 'Lose Your Love' at the bottom of the screen, so you can karaoke along if wish.
