In the song 'Marla Singer Smokes Winston Reds', it frames the life in Singapore with a thoroughly resigned slant.

As terribly relatable that may sound, the members of alt-rock band Xingfoo&roy don't seem too depressed, as they discover embracing simplicity may just be an antidote to heartland misery — even if it's temporary.

"We were just drinking Anchor (beer) outside Cold Storage near Forum when we just decided that we should go to the Uncle Ringo carnival and bring our cameras along," says Dan, frontman of Xingfoo&roy, "So we went the following Saturday and just chilled there and had beers after. The song's about living in Singapore anyway, so I guess it's quite fitting."

Or maybe the simplicity is just how we cope with it. Either way, the music video for 'Marla Singer Smokes Winston Reds', a song off their upcoming album 10 Dating Tips for the Spineless Youth Addicted to Pornography, is effortlessly moody, while showcasing the band in their element, performing in the studio.

The band will be touring Malaysia from May 7-15, releasing an EP that serves as a sampler of the full-length album, which is currently scheduled for a release sometime in July or August: "It really depends on how broke we are after the tour. Hahaha."
