XIAOJUN is stepping into the spotlight on his own with a message of self-acceptance.

The WayV member released his first solo mini-album, Hey, Somebody, on 26 October, alongside a music video for its title track. Featuring five tracks, including Chinese and English versions of ‘Hey, Somebody’, the release showcases his vocal range, with songwriting and composition contributions on select songs.

At its centre is an uplifting, mid-tempo title track about recognising your own worth. Moving from feeling like a “Nobody” to becoming a “Somebody” who chooses their own path, ‘Hey, Somebody’ pairs XIAOJUN’s bright, expressive vocals with a message of comfort and encouragement.

“This album is part of fulfilling a promise I made to myself,” XIAOJUN shares. “Ever since my debut, I've wanted to be an artist who could give people even a little bit of strength and positive energy through my music. I've always believed that this is part of my role and responsibility as a singer. Through the messages of healing and comfort in this solo album, I hope to stay true to that promise.”

The mini-album gives listeners a closer look at his musical identity beyond his work with WayV and NCT. Alongside those group activities, he has explored collaborations and featured appearances, shared a cover of ‘Best Friend’, and contributed to the soundtrack of the Chinese series Blood River. Here, his involvement in the writing and composition adds a personal dimension to his first solo collection.
