Yasuhiro Maeda infuses his invigorating talent in creating immersive soundscapes and sonic textures, to bring life to the original motion picture soundtrack for the science fiction film ALL YOU NEED IS KILL.
As the animated adaptation of a widely beloved light novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, Yasuhiro Maeda was faced with the challenge of capturing the story of Rita and Keiji as they navigate trauma, death and an insane time loop to break free from a world destroyed by the massive alien flower, Darol.
He channeled the rich emotional depth and intensity of the film into the creation of the soundtrack, while staying true to the authenticity and personality of its action-packed world. A longtime collaborator of acclaimed composer Joe Hisaishi, Maeda brings his refined musical sensibilities to the project, delivering a soundtrack that captures each scene’s nuances and emotional tone with precision.
Yasuhiro Maeda says, “I didn’t write this soundtrack to tell a story, but to create sounds that enhance the visual experience. Listening to the music on its own, I feel the album ended up having a much broader range than I originally expected.”
