YOSHIKI donates 10 million yen to Red Cross in aid of Taiwan earthquake

Japanese musician and composer YOSHIKI has donated 10 million yen to support the victims of the Taiwan Earthquake that occurred on 3rd April

The donation was made to the Taiwanese Red Cross Organisation (Red Cross Society of the Republic of China) through his 501(c)(3) non-profit organisation, YOSHIKI FOUNDATION AMERICA

The artist had previously donated 50 million yen — 10 million yen from his funds and 40 million yen from the proceeds of his crystal piano, which was placed for a charity auction — to aid the victims of the Japanese earthquake at the start of the year. The donations were made to the Japanese Red Cross Society

Besides being well-known as the leader of rock bands X JAPAN and The Last Rockstars, YOSHIKI is internationally recognised for his long-term actions as a philanthropist.

In 2019, he was recognised as one of “Asia’s Top 30 Heroes of Philanthropy” by Forbes. In 2021, he obtained a Medal of Honor from the Japanese Government for supporting the National Center for Global Health and Medicine and his continuous philanthropic efforts. 

Yoshiki has showcased his support for numerous national and international emergencies including $100,000 in disaster relief for Hurricane Harvey victims in Texas in 2017, $100,000 to the Australian Red Cross and the Rainforest Trust’s Conservation Action Fund to help bushfire victims in 2021, 30 million yen to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in aid of the number of displaced persons in Ukraine and neighbouring countries between 2022-2023 and more.

In total, YOSHIKI FOUNDATION AMERICA has donated more than 2 million dollars to charity. 

"I have performed many concerts in Taiwan. My heart hurts when I think about the feelings of all the fans and the victims of the disaster. I would like to express my deepest sympathies to everyone affected by this disaster. I pray that peaceful days will return as soon as possible,” YOSHIKI said.
