Zouk Singapore now accepting entries for Phuture DJ Battle 2017

Despite their glitzy new location, Zouk Singapore are not forgetting their roots, and they're bringing back a beloved tradition.

Launched in 1997, the Phuture DJ Battle is set to return in 2017, celebrating the art of turntablism — testing the scratching and beat-matching skills of budding DJs.

This edition will be spread across two months and will culminate in a classic head-to-head match at Phuture on June 14th.

Online submissions are now opened via the Phuture DJ Battle Facebook page and will be judged by a panel of esteemed turntablist veterans: Andrew Chow, KoFlow and DJ Rattle, along with event host LeNerd.

The panel will screen all existing entries after the cut-off date of May 15th, after which five will emerge as finalists over the following weekend through Zouk's social media channels.

On June 14th, the head-to-head battle will feature them "given a seven-minute window to dish out their best to impress. Intended to maximise exposure to crowds, each performance will be streamed live across the LED screens in Phuture."

If you think you can muster up your turntable skills in time, submit your three-minute entry here.
