Corey Manders graduated with a degree in Fine Arts (Music Performance) from York University in 1991. However, has been playing saxophone professionally since the age of 16. In the course of studying, he has had several personal instructors, including many legends of jazz. These include, Michael Brecker, Oscar Peterson, Julian Priester, Bob Mover, Joanne Brackeen, and Ritchie Beirach. In Canada, his instructors included Mike Murley, Pat Labarbera, Kirk Macdonald, and Phil Dwyer. After graduation, Corey Manders toured with several artists and groups including One Step Beyond, a jazz funk band signed to Mo'Funk Records. As a contributing composer of this ensemble, his compositions were featured on several television series, made-for-tv movies, as main stream cinema production "Scalpers (2000)". Key performances include playing in the Montreal Jazz Festival, the DuMaurier Downtown Jazz Festival, the Ottawa Jazz Festival and the Halifax Jazz Festival.
