There are no upcoming gigs for Kok Siew Wai.
Kok Siew-Wai’s works are mostly personal and poetic, expressing subjects in everyday life such as emotions, contemplation and the human body. Her greatest inspiration in artmaking comes from “the little things in everyday life” as she believes that much insights and wisdoms are discovered from the most honest and banal daily happenings. She works with video, improvised music and performance and is most interested in observing and expressing the moment, and reflecting oneself inwardly.
Siew-Wai is an improvised vocalist, video artist and artist-organizer from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She received her B.A. in Media Study at SUNY Buffalo, and M.F.A. in Electronic Integrated Arts at Alfred University, USA, where she lived there from 1998-2005. Siew-Wai has shown her videos and performed locally and internationally since 2001, and participated in festivals such as International Film Festival Rotterdam, Busan International Video Art Festival, Bangkok Experimental Film Festival, Kuala Lumpur Contemporary Music Festival, Choppa Eclectic Improvised Music Festival (Singapore), Improvised and Otherwise Festival (New York) and more. Siew-Wai and Yong Yandsen formed Reflex Reactions in 2006, an improvised duo with voice and saxophone based on attentive listening and communication.
