There are no upcoming gigs for Masha.
Formed in May 2013, Masha (inspired by our favorite tennis goddess Maria Sharapova) came to be when guitarists PJ Rodriguez and Weak Domines, bassist Chris Mercado and drummer Tobs Tobio, started over from their defunct alternative pop band of three years, The Finishing Moves. Recruiting chief songwriter and vocalist Alvin Aleria and synths & programming wiz Howie Manalaysay, the band has gone on to play in various venues such as saGuijo, Route 196, Club DREDD, B-Side, Big Sky Mind and Black Kings Bar, dishing out original alternative Pinoy rock infused with elements of electronic music reminiscent of bands like Incubus, U2 and The Police.
The band released its debut album, Stalemate Guards For Defiant Hearts, on November 7, 2014. The 10-track album was recorded, mixed & mastered at La Balls Studio in Makati City and co-produced with Nick Lazaro (MOONWLK, Twin Lobster & Birdforms).
The band’s 1st single from the album, Hello, Cyanide, was selected as Song of the Week by Amplify.ph for the week of October 6, 2014.
The band’s album cover, designed by Lowell San Jose & vocalist Alvin Aleria, was selected as one of the 30 Essential Filipino Album Covers of 2014 by influential Filipino indie music blog Vandals On The Wall (#14).
Masha made its Philippine radio debut on January 28, 2015 over Jam 88.3 FM's Fresh Filter program with the single "Your Shame" and is currently on the regular playlist of the station.
The band was also nominated in the 2015 Philippine Indie Rock Awards for Best Live Act and Independent Album of the Year for its debut album, Stalemate Guards For Defiant Hearts.
