There are no upcoming gigs for The Mighty Mighty.
Hailed as Singapore’s answer to the JBs, the Meters and the Bamboos, the Mighty Mighty plays some of the hardest funk, sweetest soul and most tender R&B from the 60’s to the 2000’s. The 8-piece party machine swings from funk and soul classics to their own dancefloor burners.
The outfit was formed by Masterpiece to be the house band for Pushin’On, Singapore’s sole and longest-running funk night in 2008. The band gave the night the high-octane energy found in funk nights around the world such as Motherfunk (Edinburgh), Breakin’ Bread (London) and The Night Cat (Melbourne).
An institution in the funk and soul scene in Singapore, the band has melded rock, latin, jazz and go-go influences into a muscular, organic sound guaranteed to throw audiences into a sweaty frenzy. After all, what is a night out without some serious dancing?
Currently, the octet holds a monthly residency every last Friday of the month at Blu Jaz Café for the funk night Pushin’On. They have rocked stages at TAB, Prince of Wales, Radikal Forze 14th Anniversary B-boy Jam and the 2012 Esplanade YFest.
