Folk band The Trees & The Wild has the ability to lift your spirits up and tie your heart in knots. Named Must See Act of 2011 by Times Magazine, their success story took almost 7 years to unravel. Though formed in 2001, the three-man outfit was only discovered in 2008 by indie label Lil’Fish Records, not before converting thousands of fans. Their 2009 debut album Rasuk captured breezy yet poignant acoustic folk melodies that swept across Jakarta’s indie music scene with widespread appeal.
Citing influences from bands such as Fleet Foxes and Sigur Ros, and an interest in traditional Indonesian music, their music’s rich textural quality reveal layers of Indonesian folk as well as post-rock elements that create their captivating sound. The Trees & The Wild are Remedy Waloni, Andra Kurniawan, Charita Utamy, Hertri Nur Pamungkas and Tyo Prasetya.
