A Musical Fantasy

Following a well-received concerto debut at the recent 2nd Singapore International Festival of Music, Moscow and London trained Singaporean pianist Song Ziliang returns to perform a solo recital that seeks to draw links between Singapore and Western Classical Music culture.
Centred on the theme of Fantasy, the concert features Schumann’s Fantasy which was written as an expression of love for his beloved wife Clara. The idea of love provides the inspiration for the special commission for this concert by Syafiqah where the work will feature the unique interlocking rhythms of the kompang at a Malay wedding.
Other works in the concert include Scriabin’s mercurial Fifth Sonata and Chinese pieces such as Autumn Moon on a Calm Lake and Colourful Clouds Chasing the Moon. Join Ziliang for a musical journey through the cultures of the East and West! "
