Day Out@Esplanade: Sounding out the Arts is a half-day general arts exposure experience conducted in various venues around Esplanade. The programme aims to demonstrate to students how arts and the sciences can come together. Start the day with Serentak Senusantara, a music and rhythm performance by NADI Singapura. During the performance, students will be treated to a music performance that features different percussion instruments of the Malayan Archipelago like the kompang, rebana, gendang, gong and jidur. They will be introduced to the science of sound and music while experiencing the harmony, dynamism and vibrancy of Malay music and rhythm. After the performance, students will be able to participate in a free and easy trail and hands-on workshops. Go on a self-guided trail to listen and observe how sound and the visual arts can come together with a sound installation by Singaporean contemporary sound-media artist, Zulkifle Mahmod. Students will also get the opportunity to participate in fun and accessible workshops that explore the link between the arts and various scientific concepts like sound and light.
