District ft. Yazyd, Deen, Muddy, DJ-SiFi & Jon Marc
Visit CATO’s Voodoo House this Halloween, with District kicking off the weekend with Yazyd, Deen, Muddy, DJ-SiFi & Jon Marc on the decks.
DISTRICT started out as an idea to push the deeper side of forward-thinking techno music into the Singapore. The foundation of this project was based on the collaborative efforts between Yazyd and Haan, both of whom are definitely no strangers in the local electronic music scene. With more than a decade worth of experience between them, Yazyd and Haan had also played alongside a list of major names; both in clubs and for festivals.
DISTRICT is back from a hiatus with a fortnightly series of the finest local techno nights minus the flashy champagne bottles and club fluff. It is driven towards setting up a platform for local techno DJs/musicians to showcase their craft at raw new venues whilst focusing and spreading the love for good techno music within the region.
DJ-SiFi - Since Simon Faure-Field (AKA DJ-SiFi ) moved to our little island in 1995 he has been a regular feature on Singapore's evolving electronic music scene (KYO, Kilo, Canvas, Outcast 001, Sessions) and overseas with residences including The Monarchy (A-list pre-party club), Zeta Bar in Beijing, HYDE bar in Singapore where a collaboration with Giuseppe G formed (the lab). Other nights include The Vault, Velvet Underground Singapore, Kinki Rooftop Bar, The Mansion, Avalon’ “Mixing Room”, Supperclub, LUSH, Mr Brookes, China One as well as The Pelican overlooking Marina Bay.
Simon’s influences were early 80's electro, Acid house spearheaded by Evil Eddie Richards, Nightmares on Wax, 4hero, A guy called Gerald, across to the funky and deeper cuts of Ian Pooley, Bushwacka, tech-house of Mr.C, and the darker twisted electronic style of Andrea Parker. No wonder he’s able to weave such a fine tapestry of underground electronic dance music with undertones to so many different genres.
As a result of his influences, Simon’s sets have progressed over the years from acid house to Chicago and soulful house, to the more experimental, deeper, darker and funky styles of breakbeat, old skool electro, deep, tech house, tech funk and electronica, giving him a unique positioning within Asia’s vibrant electornic culture.

JON MARC -Joins us in Singapore for one night. During the 90's there wasn't a London club that Jon didn't play at. The Astoria, Busby's, Bagleys, The Cross, Camden Palace, Cafe de Paris, Club UK and that's just A-C.... Jon started out in the Rave era, playing some seminal venues, sometimes with The Boneshakers and sometimes as 'Eastie'. He launched Koolworld Records with Dave Wooster and Graham Gold in the early 90's and went on to have over 40 releases on Koolworld and 3 other stablemate labels. Jon reached no.2 in the UK dance charts with 'Invader', selling over 40,000 units on release.
