Esplanade Presents: Red Dot August - Maia Band

Maia Band is an all-male outfit of military men hailing from Singapore, who have chosen music as their secondary weapon.

The group was founded in 2017 by vocalist and guitarist Muhammad Ashik, formerly from 3dash1 (winner of The Straits Times School of Rock Competition) and rock band Deputy Siren, together with lead guitarist and long-time friend Muhammad Inndra. Maia Band went to record their first demo Kau Segalanya (You are Everything), a song dedicated to mothers and released in time for Mothers’ Day. In June that same year, Erico Etlanta Erys, former drummer of punk band 20Dischanger, joined the band.

Maia Band's music is a blend of rock and pop, laced with punk rock and pop punk to preserve, in their words, “the remnants of the members' youth”.
