Leftbank ft. Angela Flame, Decrypt, Haan + Maniam

After quickly establishing itself as a platform for local and regional talent alike to flaunt their skills behind the DJ decks, Leftbank is back with a new segment – Leftbank Showcase Series. A new segment stemmed from Haan, Leftbank Showcase Series aims to shine light on performance musicians that add a dynamic twist to your regular DJ sets.

In its debut launch, the first Leftbank Showcase Series features Angela Flame, on the decks and Maniam– Zouk’s famed tabla player, joining in alongside her.

Maniam with over 48 years of experience in the Singaporean music scene as a guru of percussion, is an expert in Indian, Latin and Middle Eastern percussion instruments. He is the recipient of the prestigious COMPASS Artists Excellence Award (Singapore) and was awarded the “Indian Cultural Ambassador” by Singapore’s National Heritage Board three years in a row. Famous for his performances at Zouk in the 90s, Maniam has played alongside the beats of the world’s most famed DJs, such as Paul Oakenfold, Danny Tenaglia, John Digweed and Paul van Dyk. Like his eclectic musical taste and hybrid beats, Maniam represents a fusion of tradition and cutting-edge modernity, combinations that reflect the multi-cultural identity of Singapore – and today’s club culture.

Not one to be outshined by her counterpart, Angela Flame expresses a sound that is rich and unique with a DJ career spanning more than a decade. AF’s sound has advanced to a bridging edge creatively blending the classics with the new. She showcases a knowledge and respect for the depth of electronic music in all its complexity, not one to be waylaid by trend.

Having travelled the world, AF returned to do what she loves and knows best – the music. Exploring the experimental reaches of this vast domain comes with a turn towards digital platforms and its limitless boundaries. With a harness of current technology, AF continues to move forward into the future of techno, which is when it all began.
