MCA Music (Universal Music Philippines), is proud to present the country’s first RECORD STORE DAY. The annual global event, which takes place this year on April 18th and in the Philippines happening at Eastwood City from April 12-15, celebrates the importance and vitality of the independent music store. The no. 1 music company in the Philippines MCA Music along with Astroplus/Astrovision, Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, Audiotechnica and Vinyl Dump Thrift Store will release exclusive vinyl titles from a wide array of artists in celebration of Record Store Day. MCA Music shall offer releases from the world’s top artists of today, like Sam Smith, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Imagine Dragons, Hozier, The 1975, Bastille, Tove Lo, as well as exclusive titles from such legendary artists as The Police, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Metallica, and Deep Purple. In addition to that, artists from the prestigious Blue Note label such as Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, and Freddie Hubbard are included in the line-up. Also available for sale at the venue are rare Jazz titles from Diana Krall, Gregory Porter, Norah Jones, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Astrud Gilberto and hard to find catalogue vinyl releases such as The Beatles. Have your photo taken at the event’s installation of the famous Beatles album, Abbey Road, while shopping for your favorite record. Brand new Walt Disney Picture Discs like Frozen, Aladdin, Beauty & The Beast, The Little Mermaid and The Lion King shall also be available during the 4-day event. Furthermore, a number of local artists are set to perform during Day 1 of Record Store Day (April 12 at Eastwood Central Plaza), including Johnny Alegre, Nicole Asensio, Save Me Hollywood, James Wright, Chlara, and more. Record Store Day was conceived in 2007 as a way to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture surrounding nearly 1000 independently owned record stores in the US and thousands of similar stores internationally. On this day, independently-owned records stores come together with artists and labels to celebrate music with special releases and promotional products and events.
