The second stop of The Pedra Branca EP brings Malaysian Punk-Folk Singer and Singaporean Doom Folk artist Hell Low together with folk outfit The Cotton Field Scarecrowes to the intimate space of the Independent Archive and Resource Center.
The Pedra Branca EP is a collaborative effort between Malaysian folk punk singer-songwriter Azmyl (Azmyl Yunor and the Sigarettes, Ben's Bitches, The Maharajah Commission, Ciplak, Roarm) and Singaporean doom folk artist Hell Low.
The EP stands out a beacon for understanding of commonalities between the cross straits neighbors. Each song a carefully crafted tribute to love, loss and living in their respective countries. It also acknowledges the tensions that exist between borders as different yet similar cultures and ideals clash and coalesce. In the end it is an EP about hope. Hope for the future of both our countries as politics up north take on a distinctively non-secular slant and those down south move on from a one party system of governance.
